Countdown is on for Sawatzky Cup V!

THERE'S just over 10 weeks until the fifth edition of the Sawatzky Cup and things are - I hope! - coming together.

With the men's field extended to 18 teams and women's entries beginning to filter in,  I'm hoping for a bumper turnout of both players - and spectators.

Thanks to the stellar skills of Alexander Park's groundsman Robbie Firns, the courts will be in immaculate condition - I'd venture to say THE best grasscourts in WA, if not Australia.

It's great to see competitors having fun with their team names too - from I'd Thought This Was Speed Dating, to Serve Me A Double (!) and not forgetting The Slice Girls.

There's a great turnout of Alexander Park members supporting the event, plus we have teams from clubs such as Floreat Park, Ocean Ridge, Sorrento, Mt Lawley, Royal Kings Park, North Shore Country Club, Manduarh and even Dunsborough - 300km south.

So I say...bring it on!
